Welcome from Beccles & District Lions Club.
Thank you for considering taking part in our Second Annual Fun Run. You are helping us to raise much needed funds to support local organisations and individuals less fortunate than ourselves.
About the Runs:
The idea for a Beccles Fun Run was prompted by local runners floating the idea – coincidentally at the same time as the Beccles Lions. Waveney District Council are also trying to promote ‘healthier life styles’ and so the decision was made to go ahead.
One thing to note is that the various runs are specifically ‘Fun Runs’. - that is they are NOT races and no ‘winners’ will be declared.
They are therefore suitable for all abilities with the emphasis on setting personal goals and having fun doing so.
There are three ‘runs’ which can be taken at running, jogging or walking pace around picturesque Beccles Common.
Distances are 5k, 3k and a 1k for Children .
We regret that being a traditional mainly untended common, the course is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
They are also a fantastic way of raising money!
Sponsorship & Raising Money:
Whilst Beccles Lions hope that they can ‘swell their funds’ by organising the Event – we decided from the start that the runners should have the opportunity of supporting their own favourite causes.
How you can do this is described in the entry section.
We would like to “pull rank” a bit however. If you would love to participate but are not sure which Charity to support – then please think of the Lions.
It’s a Special Offer! – raise £50 or above for Beccles Lions and we will refund your entry fee (if you so wish). Again full details on the entry section.
As you may know, the ‘Beccles Lions’ – which is a Registered Charity, raise money to support a wide variety of local needs.
We regularly help local individuals – such as those with disabilities who find it impossible to self fund special equipment which they require or indeed even able bodied local people who are struggling with their circumstances.
In addition we are always willing to hear from schools, hospitals, clubs and societies where we can give help which will benefit a wider number of both Children and Adults.
We hope that by organising this event, we will raise funds to enable us to help even more Local people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
